A reasonable person would roll over and die. Tian isn't that reasonable. And as it happens, neither is Grandpa Jun. A very tough kid meets a very cunning old man. And together, they will shake the heavens.

Best cultivation story I have read
Reviewed at: Chapter 45- An Unpolished Jade
Sky pride is excellent. The story’s pace, characters, and attention to detail are perfect. Most xianxia type stories I have read sympathy focus on the main characters, and perhaps a couple of others, show up every now and then, only to fade and be forgotten after having served their usefulness to the plot. The goal of this story unlike other progesssion fantasies doesn’t just seem to be having the main character increase in power, that is an important and satisfying part of the story, but it really feels like zihao’s world is full of living and breathing individuals with their own struggles. The main character, zihao, is not the sole thing in the book which everything else moves around. Absolutely great, definitely worth the read

A good story

This is xianxia played absolutely straight, but with a refreshingly straightforward philosophy of the main character (along with his ignorance) to cut through all the nonsense. Also this is one of the best outer sect experiences I have ever seen, and it makes perfect sense given the setting. Give it a few chapters and it will hook you.

Good read

The Main character starts at the absolute bottom trope, nicely done.
The "Golden finger" is extremely limited by some mysterious laws, but gives solid and relevant advice. Good
The world is cruel and danger packed, but also full of wonder and opportunities. Great
Side characters are funny and feel real, not like the peanut gallery of other xianxia stories.
Every chapter is entertaining, thank you author, keep up the good work.

knife's edge between very wholesome and horrific

And I'm so here for it.
It's a very refreshing reboot of the xianxia genre, that does everything the average xianxia does just slightly better, and thus in conclusion very good.
Regarding the title. I'll say that especially the first few chapters are not for the faint of heart, but they make the slowly bidding payoff so much better.

easily one of the best on here
Reviewed at: Chapter 23- Mission Demon
Easily one of the best written stories on here. This could be the best cultivation novel ever if it keeps going like this. The charachters are well written and i'll write more as time goes on. I dont know what else to put right now even though they are making me put more words

Excellent story of growth
Reviewed at: Chapter 46- Waking Up
An excellently told xain-xia story with a protagonist that isn't a self insert and a self awareness of the genre to not make it boring. Tian is ignorant, having been sick, sheltered and then left for dead as a small child. What sets him apart from other "Ignorant" main characters is his ability to acknowledge his ignorance and grow in a realistic manner. Tian isn't dumb, he is merely used to being alone and learned different things. His lessons are hard fought victories for survival, trial and error, failure comes often, but it teaches him.
His "Grandfather" isn't a "Golden Finger" or a system granting power for just breathing, but a personality with their own agenda and harsh limits. This gives agency to Tian's personal growth while also helping to guide him in the best direction.
Well written characters and a welcome lack of "Young Master-itis" give this story enough of a difference to stand out in a choked genre. That being said, it is a well trod path being xain-xia and there is currently nothing game changing enough in the setting to truly make this a 5 out of 5. Give it a read and you will be most pleased.

Every chapter is so intense

The author brings a lot of depth to what he writes, incorporating philosophy and occasional poetic prose. It makes the work feel more real—and spicier. When I'm reading, I feel like I'm not just following the story; I'm speaking with it.
The author strikes me as an extremely talented individual—someone truly impressive and deeply knowledgeable in the genre. Great lore. It's definitely a work I'll read until the very end.

Extremely fun! Almost empty?
Reviewed at: Chapter 48- No Role But Victim
Sky Pride is a difficult object to assess.
The writing has similar catching power to the bassline of a funk song. I don't know how you could not follow along. Is it a fun read? Absolutely yes! Do not doubt that for a second.
What is there beyond that, however? When you peel your eyes and carefully weight what you're reading?
If the main character of a story dies, there would be no story. Hence, the main characters can't die. In xianxia, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Given that pretty much everything you encounter wants you dead, and if the MC can't die... Do you see the loop?
Can you level critics against a xianxia story for following this staple? Yes, I think, if the encounters are lackluster. I feel they are here.
They are immediately fun, yes. Short term. But there's very little gleaned from them, no illuminating, character-defining moment - Tian passed every test of character but I didn't doubt for a second that he would.
The encounters themselves are not very imaginative, save what could have turned into a daring rewrite of Jonas and his Whale... Which the author cut short.
Character-wise, well. They aren't paper-thin, but they haven't got much meat on them either. I mean, (overly) gutsy, good-natured shonen kid, funny mentor ghost-grandpa, outwardly calm - secretly bloodthirsty teacher... Etc. They don't work against the story, mind, but don't expect complexity. The supposedly misanthropic kid raised on a garbage dump is perfectly happy to save people. Yeah... Shonen character much.
They haven't got much of a clear goal either. Which is another staple of xianxia stories. But, I mean, "cultivating immortality" is a terribly boring mcguffin, imho.
I think what truly hurts this story though is that it doesn't seem to know how it wants to be told.
Okay, let's clear it up. At the start, the MC is so completely diseased that, frankly, the only reason he survives is because he is the MC. Period. This tragic backstory™ cranked up to twelve is meant to be laughed at. This is in fact discreetly lampshaded by a character in a bit of fourth wall breaking. So, a deadpool-esque humour. Okay.
The story doesn't follow up. Or at best in a very, terribly, inconsistant fashion. You can't have such uncertainty in the tone of a story. I think it is very much story breaking.
So, verdict. This is a very fun mindless read, though inconsistant in tones. As for the rest, don't dig any deeper for now.

Very solid

This story is engaging and really well done. It's xianxia, but with an interesting main character and background as well as a great supporting cast of characters.
The tension is good and the story itself is well written. I'm going to keep reading and hope the writer continues this one for some time to come.

Really enjoying the book so far

Really enjoying this series and I hope you guys like it too!
Its a very dynamic story which doesn't make the MC to be completely op straight away. The MC has definitely had to go through trials to get to where they are and this is just at the beginning.
I don't have much to say but I'm looking forward to seeing how it progresses.
