Dragon Mage Reborn [Isekai, LitRPG Evolution, Dragon FMC]
by damienrjames
A cowboy and a warlock walk into a diner—there’s a cheesy joke in there somewhere….
Except this isn't a joke, and what starts off as a boring day waiting tables turns into a fiery ball of magical light that blows everyone to kingdom come.
So I died, now what? Well now, things get a bit more interesting. I am suddenly isekai’d to a fantasy world, rescue a one-eyed mercenary, become a dark mage, and train to enlist in a game of champions to save my world and its sister planet.
Oh, and by the way, did I mention I am reincarnated into a dragon?
So there's that.
Hmm, maybe I should have called out sick today after all....

So far generic but decent, some possible flaws

This is a very early review, analysis of the story and characters is difficult at this point, and i may revisit this later.
The characters so far seem to be colorful, larger than life, and embracing their respective genre tropes, and the setting looks like a SFF pastiche, so far showing what appears to be a generic fantasy game world, and some camp scifi on the side that looks like it will be more relevant later.
The setting (so far) is hard litRPG, and seems to be subtly poking fun at some of the more logically absurd common RPG mechanics.
There is some janky grammar/prose in places, but nothing horrifying, or that a little cleanup would not fix.

its a good dragon book

It has potential, but it needs more to stand out

An intriguing idea for a story, it has lots of elements that, although I've seen it used before in other stories of its genre, still pique your curiosity and tingle the mystery sense. The familiar elements are used interestingly and unconventionally which subtly invites the reader to read more of it.
Style: The standard LitRPG style. It comes through very clearly. However, could use some work here to iron out the kinks to make it more unique. In general, I was able to follow the flow and progress of the story. Working on these as well as the grammar issues will put this story in a great place.
Grammar: could use some work here, but nothing unsalvageable. It was still readable for me so, I'll give it a pass.
Story: At this point, nothing much besides the early plot beats was established in the story, but so far, I am curious where it will head in the future and how the characters will grow by the end of it. Although, I will say that having more peril in the narrative would sell how dangerous this world truly is.
Characters: A TINY bit generic in some parts, but still entertaining in its own way – I’m particularly curious about Nolan’s character. His development, characterization, and backstory will come in time, I’m sure, as I’m pretty early on in the story. I’m also sure we will find continued reasons to root for Freya along the way as well, but she isn't THAT far off when it comes to the familiar "KILL, LOOT, LEVEL UP" character type comparatively. Hopefully, her lingering personality won't degrade TOO much as the LitRPG system becomes more and more a part of her life to the point that she becomes an emotionless husk of a person that simply would stop thinking the moment their system disappeared like many other LitRPG protagonists with authors that lack the self-awareness that, realistically, this way of life would be a fate worse than death.
Anyway, lots of potential and room to grow!
