Liu Feng wanted to be a cultivator who defied the heavens, surpassed all limits, and had jade-skinned beauties clamoring around him. He wanted to fight anyone who got in his way, and shatter the arrogance of those young masters!

Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I'm stuck here.

Jade-like beauties? No thanks, I have an awesome magical energy to study.

Young masters? Life and death battles? No, I would rather read some books on cultivation, and master some techniques that clearly don't obey the laws of physics.

There is a junior who has trash talent but suddenly started advancing by leaps and bounds? And he seems to be favored by the heavens themselves? Yeah, that has nothing to do with me.

Although this is slow paced, it is a great story. Which 3d characters, who feel and act human. The plot is interesting, while also leaving out plot points to be delt with latter, which adds to the story overall.

Just give it a chance and do not drop in the first 40 chapters because of the pacing

The only bad thing is that I got to it too early, and can not mass read it anymore.

Context: typical lurker looking to find his next dose of binge content

review: This novel did what palworld did versus a certain other game-progression. It is such a nasty addicting drug to see things grow from the start and this novel doesn’t mess around with that concept in mind. Doesn’t mean it is perfect or something but it is a good binge, you cheer for the one-braincell mc.

Satisfaction: 8/10

Initial a bit slow, this story keeps getting better.  This story has a smart MC approaches all the typical wuxia scenarios with common sense instead of arrogance and plot armor. He spends  as much time as possible studying  (and training) but not racing through his cultivation.  When he is forced, he thinks things through and looks for advice.

One of the best cultivation stories I’ve read especially the power development you don’t have to worry about the Mc becoming immediately over powered. Plus we finally get an Mac who treats cultivation for what it is, an amazing experience and explores it deeply. He shows so much enthusiasm and still a smart and cunning character.

It's pretty good with decent pacing and entertaining character dynamics. I like that even as Liu Feng still wants to go for his goal, he still has other layers to his personality. I'm excited to see where it goes because even as Liu Feng attempts to defy the common tropes that affect most xianxia protagonists, the world seems to want to push him into that role by making him a talent that appears once in a generation.

Its not bad per se, I just expected more from the top of rising stars. The premise is pretty standard, guy transmigrates in xianxia body. He is in a sect, wants to grow in power. Decent enough.

The biggest problems are for one, the dialogue. Just doesn't seem very realistic and kinda wooden. But the biggest turn off for me was the constant pov changes, which added nothing to the story except jerking off the mc.

Like "He had met many cultivators in his time, yet this unremarkable disciple was different. He actually cared about my 'unimportant mortal profession' and was a good guy. Let me just risk my life for him to give him a small advantage."

The MC is a reasonable person who has clear motivation and thinks about what he's going to do with his new life.

His progress is handled well. He doesn't gain incredible talent just by being reborn. His advantages are not overwhelming and don't come out of nowhere. They fit nicely into the world yet are enough for him to stand out among the other disciples.

The supporting cast is great. Well written as individuals rather than props for the MC. The clichés are done tastefully. They are there but framed so they strike a balance between being true to the way the world works vs the disbelief of xianxia tropes. Actual problems that the MC has to deal with .

I really enjoy this story and look forward to more chapters.

the story is very much consistent. The main character is very likable, while the antagonist are almost xiaxia cliches, I still find the story entertaining . The story itself is entertaining and brings up cliches in a new way that make it interesting. Definitely would recommend a friend to read this story.

Years ago, my introduction to online webnovels was Panlong, which catapulted me into the world of cultivation novels: tales of demons and gods, I shall seal the heavens, battle through the heavens, etc etc. I love them like I love junk food, and I recognize the glaring issues these novels tend to have (repetitive story and cliches, bland and forgetable characters, predictable power progressions).

Cultivation Nerd cuts out almost all of the cardboard cutout characters and the miserably bland dialogues of those novels, leaving just enough of the beloved recognizable tropes to laugh with. The main cast is flavorful, and the drama beats are resonant. The humor is comforting, and the power system has an extra layer. It's a cultivation novel that graduated high school, went to college, and got a degree.

Everything about cultivation nerd screams that the author understands the genre, loves the genre, and has put a lot of thought into building upon the popular but junky category. A lot of fun is poked at the usual flaws that cultivation novels suffer from, but at the same time the author's respect and admiration ring true with the vast worldbuilding and faithful power system.

That isn't to say it's flawless; the MC's paranoia on occasion does go too far to the point of ridiculousness; the triviality of death is overexaggerated at times; and a select few of the supporting cast are one-note or otherwise confusing.

While imperfect feels like Cultivation nerd was made for me, taking a genre I loved in my youth and elevating it to my now higher standards for character depth and drama beats. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who enjoys or enjoyed the cultivation genre as a must-read.

To those unfamiliar with the genre, I would say give it a try. Though many jokes require knowledge of the common tropes, most of the humor is standard and well-crafted without requirements of in-knowledge.

Nothing to complain about the story itself. Nothing particularly original about being isekaied, but the lack of a cheat for the MC makes it more atractive.

MC is a down-to-earth character, the one that doesnt surrender to the personality demanded by the local world and society, yet one that doesnt chicken out on conflicts. He has a good mind to detect schemes, and the clever use of xianxia tropes and how he tries to avoid them is the hilarious trait of the story.

Grammar seems quite nice. Decent use of vocabulary, but nothing outstading. A few mistakes due to tipying, but that's all.

My sole complain is the tile. MC is someone meticulous, aparently implied on always finding a rational way to progress his cultivation so he may live a pacific life, but he aint a nerd. One doesnt feel a true obsession of him to gain knowledge, no matter how many hours he spends on the library. It feels like the MC wanted to reach that angle, but made a MC too meek to pursue it, so ended up with a bookish advisor.

Other than that, it has a good xianxia universe developed, so for the fellow enthusiasts, have fun!
